Flower is the whole bud. A pre-roll is that bud (or a grind of it) already in a paper. In a Massachusetts rec shop you will see both on the same Gibby's strain. The cultivar is the same. The format is not: grind, paper, and how much is in the unit all change what you are holding.

What you are actually buying
An eighth of flower (3.5g) is the intact, cured buds. You see the trim. You smell the jar. You grind what you want. A 1g Gibby's pre-roll is our flower, ground and rolled. A 7-pack of 0.5g PRJs is the same idea in smaller units — Temescal menus call those PRJ multipacks.
We do not run a separate “shake SKU” as the face of the brand. If the package says Gibby's, it came through the same Uxbridge rooms. Machine-trimmed commercial prerolls from other producers are a different product category. Ours is hand-trimmed source flower.
When the eighth wins
Buy flower when you want to inspect it, portion it yourself, or use a vaporizer. You control the grind. You can stop when you want. Compare the unit price on the shop's board; we do not post retail prices.
When the pre-roll wins
Buy the 1g when you do not want to carry a grinder, or you are going somewhere you cannot pack a bowl. It is a known quantity. If you only want a little, a 0.5g PRJ is a smaller unit than lighting a full gram and wasting it.
What “deli style” and “bud bar” mean on a menu
Some Massachusetts shops (Ocean Breeze is one that has carried Gibby's this way) weigh flower at the counter from a larger jar. You still get a labeled package. Ask to see the lot's test. Fresh-packed from a well-kept jar can be excellent. A jar that has been opened all week can be tired. Your nose is the test.

Read the unit price on the shop's menu, not a grower's blog. Retail pricing belongs to the dispensary.
